Australia Visa for UAE Residents

Australia visa

Getting an Australia Visitor visa (subclass 600) for UAE residents: document preparation, filling in the ImmiAccount application, and booking biometrics in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. The process is fully digital, with a single required in-person visit — for biometrics.

List of documents for an Australia visa from the UAE

Any documents not in English must be officially translated. Since you're applying from the UAE, confirming your legal status in the country is key.

Personal documents:

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry.
  • UAE residence visa (Emirates ID), valid for at least a few more months.
  • A recent passport-style photo (3.5 × 4.5 cm) on a light background.
  • Copies of current and previous passport pages with visas and stamps — US, UK and Schengen visas are especially valued.

Financial evidence:

  • A bank statement (ideally from a UAE bank) covering the last 3-6 months, with a healthy balance and active transaction history.
  • An NOC letter from your employer on company letterhead stating your role, salary, start date, and confirming approved leave for the trip.
  • For business owners — a copy of the company's trade licence.

Purpose of trip and ties to the UAE:

  • A detailed day-by-day itinerary, hotel and flight bookings (we don't recommend purchasing tickets before the visa is approved).
  • A cover letter explaining the purpose of the visit and confirming your intention to return to the UAE.

How long does an Australia visa take to process?

Processing a tourist visa usually takes 15 to 30 working days from the date biometrics are provided. We recommend applying at least 1.5-2 months before your planned trip.

The visa is issued electronically (e-visa) — no sticker is placed in the passport, and the approval arrives directly in your online account.

How the application process works

The process has two main stages: the online application, and an in-person visit for biometrics.

  1. Create an ImmiAccount. A profile in the system on the Australian Department of Home Affairs' official website.
  2. Fill in the application and upload documents. The visa application form and high-quality scans of all documents.
  3. Pay the fee. The visa application charge is paid by card directly through ImmiAccount.
  4. Provide biometrics at VFS Global. Within a day of submitting the application, a Biometrics Requirement Letter arrives. With this letter, you need to book and attend a VFS Global centre in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, strictly within 14 days of receiving the letter.

Why are UAE residents refused a subclass 600 visa?

Weak financial evidence, a lack of solid ties to the UAE, and inconsistencies in the documents are the most common reasons the Department of Home Affairs refuses this visa. Every case is assessed individually, with particular attention paid to the risk that an applicant won't return home.

  • Insufficient funds in the account. The balance needs to fully cover flights, accommodation and daily expenses (typically AUD 5,000-10,000 depending on trip length), backed by a stable transaction history.
  • Weak ties to the UAE. A recently issued residence visa, a low-paid job, or no family remaining in the country can suggest to the officer that nothing is keeping you in the UAE.
  • Unexplained large sums in the account. Money that suddenly appears right before applying raises questions if its legitimate source can't be proven.
  • Past immigration violations. Deportations or overstays in Australia or other countries.
  • Inconsistencies and errors on the form. Mismatches between the employment letter (salary, tenure) and the actual bank statement activity, or incomplete information about past trips or refusals.
  • An unconvincing travel plan. No logical itinerary, an unusually long stay with no clear reason, or bookings that look questionable.

If you've been refused before, don't reapply with the same document package and hope for the best. We go through the reason for the past refusal and only then prepare a stronger application.
